Good news. From the information you have provided, it appears likely that your business will qualify for Healthy Texas. Next, check your eligibility. Or contact one or both of our carriers to begin the enrollment process.

Hmmm…Healthy Texas is not available to single-person businesses. Please go to TexasHealthOptions.com to learn about other ways you might be able to get health insurance for you and your family.

Hmmm…Given the number of employees or the hours they work, your business may not qualify as a small business. However, you should feel free to contact our carriers to confirm this or answer any questions you might have.

The health insurance available through Healthy Texas is intended for small businesses: businesses with two to 50 eligible employees who work at least 30 hours a week. A business can have more than 50 workers and still qualify for Healthy Texas if some of its employees are:

  • Temporary, seasonal, or substitute
  • Already covered by another form of group health insurance

Some other considerations:

  • Eligible employees must be U.S. citizens or legal immigrants.
  • The owner of a business can count as an eligible employee.
  • A husband and wife working in a business count as two separate employees.
  • A sole proprietorship is considered a small employer for Healthy Texas if it has at least two eligible employees.
  • A single-person business is not eligible for Healthy Texas.
